FIRST FOREIGN PATIENT UNDERGO SURGERY: WITNESS A DISTANCE OF 1 YEAR

DA BiH

Italy should be proud

After years of searching for the cause of my problems, there was a suspicion that I suffer from a rare condition called occult tethered cord syndrome. Doctors in my country know very little about this condition, so we needed help to get the right diagnosis.

On the internet I found an email address of Dr. Veronesi and asked him does he treat  international patients. A few days later, the answer was in my inbox: Of course I am treating, what is your problem, what needs to be fixed?

First he helped me to get a proper diagnosis, he sent me a document that describes a way to do a prone MRI, which helped me to do a prone MRI at the hospital in my country. He had no obligation to help, I live in another country. I knew immediately that he is an extraordinary man.

Then I went to first checkup in Italy, after some time surgery is scheduled in approximately one year after.

The surgery is fast and painless, and hospital stay is short. My recovery was amazing, my heath condition improved quickly after surgery: there was no back pain, pain in my legs was gone, urological condition started to get better and I was sleeping much better than before surgery. One year after surgery my condition is even better, only slight urological problems are still present.

It is important to note that I have 38 years, so I am a case of adult occult tethered cord syndrome, which was neglected for years because doctors in my country did not know how to help me. I did not know what to expect, is surgery going to be successful and effective.

Now my life is much better and easier, my problems are minor after surgery. This is the resposibility of Dr. Veronesi, he is truly remarkable, honest man in the not-so-good times. Also thanks to Dr. Sacco and all the staff of the hospital.

Italy should be proud of you!
